About this tool
Image Mosaic & Blur is a privacy-first photo redaction tool that lets you brush a pixelate effect, gaussian blur or solid black bar over faces, license plates and sensitive text. Adjust intensity and brush size, undo individual strokes with the eraser, and export in the original JPG, PNG or WebP format with EXIF and GPS metadata automatically stripped from the result.
How to use
- Add an image. Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP image into the upload area, or tap to choose a photo from your device.
- Pick effect and brush settings. Choose Pixelate, Blur or Solid bar, then adjust intensity and brush thickness for the area you want to cover.
- Brush over the area. Drag your finger or mouse over faces, license plates or sensitive text. Switch to the eraser to undo any stroke.
- Download the result. Tap Download to save the image. EXIF metadata including GPS is automatically removed for privacy.
FAQ
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser using the Canvas API. The image never leaves your device, and EXIF metadata including GPS is automatically stripped from the result.
Can the censored area be recovered?
The exported file contains only the painted result — no original pixel data is preserved. Solid bar removes information completely. Strong mosaic and blur are practically irreversible, but very weak settings on small areas may leave traces that AI tools can partially reconstruct. Use Solid for the strongest privacy.
What output format do I get?
The output matches the input format: JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG, WebP stays WebP. Quality is preserved as much as possible.
Can I undo a single stroke?
Switch to the Eraser tool and brush over the area you want to remove. To start completely fresh, use the Reset button.
