About this tool
HEIC to JPG Converter is a free image conversion tool that decodes Apple HEIC and HEIF photos to JPG or PNG using WebAssembly. It supports batch conversion of hundreds of files, an adjustable JPG quality slider, and optional EXIF preservation so capture date and GPS stay intact — useful when iPhone photos will not open on Windows, KakaoTalk or other apps that lack native HEIC support.
How to use
- Drop or select HEIC files. Drag your .heic / .heif images into the drop zone, or click to choose files. Multiple files at once are supported.
- Choose output format. Select JPG (smaller) or PNG (lossless). Adjust quality slider for JPG (92% recommended).
- Toggle EXIF preservation. If you need to keep capture date and GPS, turn on Preserve EXIF. JPG output only.
- Convert. Press Convert. Files are decoded and re-encoded entirely in your browser using WebAssembly.
- Download. Review the results below the Convert button, then download one file or use Download ZIP for multiple outputs.
FAQ
Why are iPhone photos in HEIC?
HEIC has been the default since iOS 11. Files are about half the size of JPG with comparable quality, but some platforms still need conversion for compatibility.
Where do my photos go?
Nowhere. All conversion happens entirely on your device, inside the browser.
How many files at once?
No hard limit. We recommend up to ~500 on desktop and ~50 on mobile.
Will quality degrade?
At 92%+ JPG quality the difference is rarely visible. Choose PNG for lossless output.
What happens to EXIF metadata?
Stripped by default for privacy. Toggle "Preserve EXIF" to keep capture date and GPS — applies to JPG output only (PNG does not support standard EXIF).
Why is the JPG file larger than the original HEIC?
HEIC is roughly 30~50% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality. Converting to JPG normally produces 1.3~1.8× larger files. Lower the quality to 85% for similar size.
Why can't I open or send iPhone photos on Windows or KakaoTalk?
Windows and most messaging apps don't support HEIC natively. Convert your photos to JPG using this tool — it works in your browser with no software to install.
